The couple, both top soccer players, made the announcement on Instagram. They shared a beautiful collage of four black-and-white photos. One picture shows them holding up their baby’s ultrasound image. In another, Kerr lovingly points to Mewis' baby bump.

Mewis, 33, and Kerr, 31, have been in a relationship since 2021. They got engaged in November 2023.

Kristie plays for West Ham United, while Sam is the captain of the Australian national team and plays for Chelsea. Though both players are currently sidelined due to injuries, their joy over this new chapter in their lives shines through.

Mewis and Kerr have had an impressive career in soccer. Mewis was part of the U.S. squad at the 2023 World Cup, and Kerr has helped lead Chelsea to multiple wins, including five Women’s Super League titles.
