20 Airports under AAI are planning to go plastic free

These Aorports include Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune, Goa, Lucknow, Trivandrum, Bhubaneswar, Kozhikode, Patna, Visakhapatnam, Srinagar, Coimbatore, Amritsar, Indore, Bangalore, Bagdogra, Nagpur, Chennai, Chandigarh & Varanasi.
The Airports are targetting November-end, except Chennai Airport which plans to go Plastic-Free by December-end.
The Airports plan to instal Plastic Bottle Crushing Machines & place Dustbins at prominent places.
AAI is also looking at other Environment-Friendly measures like Solar Power, Rain Water Harvesting & Garbage Disposal.
AAI’s Executive Director (Operations) will finalise the inspection procedure for Plastic-Free Airports & seek help from Quality Council of India.
