Google on Monday honoured British Chemist, Entrepreneur Sir William Henry Perkin best known for his accidental discovery of the first aniline dye: the purple mauveine .

Died : 14th July 1907 (aged 69)
Though failing in trying to synthesise quinine for the treatment of malaria, he became successful in the field of dyes after his discovery at the age of 18.
Sir William Henry Perkin discovered the first aniline dyestuff in march 1856 while working in his home laboratory and went on to found science-based industry
He was awarded with Royal Medal in 1879, followed by Davy Medal (1889), Albert Medal (1890), Perkin Medal (1906).
