Toyota fans, get ready!
The Celica sports car is officially coming back. This announcement comes after years of speculation and excitement from fans.
At Rally Japan, Akio Toyoda, Toyota’s president, was asked if the Celica would return. He handed the question to Yuki Nakajima, who made the big reveal: “We’re making the Celica.” This statement confirmed what many had hoped for: the Celica’s comeback is real.
The Celica was last produced 18 years ago, but now it’s making a return. Toyota is working on new engines with Subaru and Mazda, which could be perfect for the Celica. There’s also talk of a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, potentially reaching 400 horsepower. This would make the Celica a powerful, exciting ride.
One of the most exciting possibilities is the return of the Celica All-Trac, with an all-wheel-drive system similar to the GR Corolla. Some believe the new Celica could even share a platform with the GR86, making it a more affordable sports car. Whether the Celica will replace the GR86 or sit alongside it remains a mystery.
Toyota has also been working with Subaru on other models, so there could be a partnership for the Celica as well. Maybe a new, small roadster, like the 2015 S-FR concept, could also be in the works.
The excitement around the Celica’s return is growing, and fans can’t wait to see what Toyota has in store. As of now, Toyota hasn’t released all the details, but the future looks bright for the Celica.
